Oh THAT time of year!??!!?! Sheeeeit!
Yes indeed, people.
There we were enjoying a nice summer, sun shining, birds tweeting away, walking down Brick Lane in a bright yellow wife beater with some vintage shades, next thing you know old man winter's got an ice cold foot in the doorway tryin'a gatecrash the party.
Christmas.
I hate it, the songs (saw Cliff Richards video for 'Mistletoe and Wine'- swear down he ends it with the same dance they did in 'The Wickerman' when they made a human barbeque out of poor old Edward Woodward- PAGANS!!), you hear them in every shopping centre, bunch of bogus Santa's at large in town.
Good thing we just got the Fenchurch sponshorship, eh! Ran up in their store in Covent Garden on Tuesday and hooked my broke ass UP! Off to see 'em launch their Autumn Winter Collection at a spot in Old Street this evening. Pictures to follow..
At least now I got a lil one Christmas has some meaning again. I'm actually going hunting for a tree and shit, even offered to do Christmas dinner! Yeesh!!!!

End of UK tour!!
Foreign Beggars next UK dates will be supporting Prodigy at the end of January 2010! Thanks to everyone that came out, the promoters, agents and everyone else that helped to make this our best UK tour yet. Stand out shows include the launch at Fabric, Leicester, Cardiff, Sheffield and Bristol Thekla.
The final weekend ended in us being early, for the first time in 7 years, for the train back to London, and look where we got kicked off..

So in recent news, I'm a new Dad, hence i missed out on Croatia and China (although the latter felt more like the bookers didn't want my black ass to come!). We got the album launch popping off this Friday at FABRIC!
And finally this is out and looking to make some serious impact!

A letter from China
Dear Mum and Dad,
sorry to not have been in touch i took my shaver charger instead of my phone charger..(: at least the personal grooming is at an all time high this trip! plus i had the most thorough ever haircut where they massage your head first and clean your face and ears, Mum you know you always told me 'If it doesn't feel right James, don't do it'.. well a man cleaning out my inner ear with his pinky felt wrong..
we're in Chengdu, 12 million people and i never even heard of it.. they like hiphop out here, but not as we know it- have to throw a lot of very obvious tunes in there that they know, not just do Beggars tunes, but we flip it up with some Roger, Noisia, Dam Funk, Wiley, Nirvana , keep it moving with beatbox/scratch interludes, and pav chatting chenglish.. they loved it
today it was the 60th yr independence celebrations... incredible.. next level nationalisation indoctrination going on.. everyone waving their flags and singing songs about 'beautiful land of china, with rivers of happiness flowing through the mountains of our resolution' etc etc..
its warm here, but you never see the sun- too covered in smog, but the airs noway as bad as in beijing, oh.. Zani just informed me 'its the topography of the nearby mountains influencing cloud cover'.
The mountains, and tibet are really close, we're going to see the biggest buhda in the world tomorrow, he's carved in a mountain.
still on uk time which is gonna make getting up at 6 in the morning, in 3 hours time interesting..
2 things Chengdu is most famous for; 1. they have pandas here, 2. Everything is served with a bucket of chilis. Pigged out on street barberque with Hakeem and Rachel from Djini.com.. at first hesitant at being handed a bloodied plastic basket, raw hunger took over... they have aubergine, mushrooms, tofu, veg, all the meats.. its just best to eat it and eat not think too much about what bit, or species it is (hold tight Zani with the duck feet), besides they cover it all in chili and spices. 3 hrs later the gut still feels firm though, hope it holds out.. this girl tonight told us about this place in sechuan province nearby where they eat live baby mice brains- im told they have the consistancy of toothpaste... and yes Mum they eat dogs too ):
being well looked after by Jennifer @chinaunlimited.. looking forward to Nang Jin in 2 days..

Croatia blog on its way... its all a bit mad, we go to China next week, and its their 60 year independence celebrations on October 1st- can't get sick before we go there, apparently if you've got a temperature on arrival they ship you off to quarentine no questions- swine flue prevention. 'Contact' is out on October 5th- the day we get back, then its ONNNN.. bare tour dates (check the myspace for deets). Plus we got confirmation to support a legendary band early nx year.. can't say more yet
Had a dj set at Conforte Modern in Poitiers at the weekend- great venue, staff and sound..DJ Kentaro was there too - if you wanna see a real turntablist, aint none better.. the way he weaves sick routines into his sets is nexxx.. youtube him, not if you're a dj though he'll make you feel inadeqaute. .....): Oh and peep the fan at the end, this girl follows him to EVERY show, she'd flown in from Japan and was going on to Nantes the next day to see him again. Rock star shit

Weird Fucking Dream
So I woke up completely baffed this morning, still semi in my dream. I tell you I was fucking glad I woke up cos if that was real, bwooooy, I'd be in some shit right now...
So because my friend is a an interesting character, I knew he'd get a kick out it so I sent him what happened... here's the Story, and here's some of his works ... the two are completely unrelated, but I can't help knowing that something to do with his personality and sense of humour perversly edged their way into my sleep/subconcious..
Here's what I sent him, all the other friends who were there, I have mentioned your names too ...cos you were there... anyway fuck it here goes....I've written it as i remember so excuse the timeline?..
Oi Gav,
had a really fucked up dream that i murdered you and buried you in my back yard, then a friend Mani, dug you up as he collected human body parts for his exhibits, he was bit pranged out when he found out i'd murdered you, and couldn't use the parts incase he was implicated somehow. My bro's were in the house cleaning up the backyard as were my mormon/ overtly christian neighbours, theirs, managed to pull it over them somehow and they didn't catch on (I don't think) But the fact they didn't flip also added to my paranoia. Real graphic image of all your intestines being ripped out and strewn in the garden to disintegrate and some sort of a wild cat being sent out to feed on them to disguise the damage further. I'd also decapitated you and hollowed out your head and tried to crush your skull, to stick it under a low bench behind some shit like a green pipe and a bucket if i remember right.
When I was inside trying to keep my mum from venturing outside, Mani's dumbass little brother pulled your decapitated riggamortified body from the couldron it was buried in and started doing some sort of an amature waltz/polka slowdance with your body, i rushed out and grabbed his hair and beat him to the ground as I was desperate to cover it up. I didn't want to kill you and you were still my friend, but I had to for some reason and it was just beginning to dawn on me that people would start asking questions soon and my life as a free man would probably end.
I ended up having to get a lift to croydon or somewhere thereabouts with someone who was remeniscint of the stylist from our last video shoot with you cut up in black bags to dispose of when someone woke me up for lunch....
I was fucking relieved that I didn't have a). your blood on my conscience, b). a fucking murder on my hands i had to dodge, generally that it wasn't real life.
Took me a good while to get normal, the fact i've still remembered this and felt to write it down about 12 hours later must mean that is has affected me somehow... I'll say inspired..
not to go on a spree, but how fucking random.
My flatmate Tony was my accomplice and Dee showed up and shat his pants at some point and ducked out.
Hope ur well otherwise, are you still in NYC, I have someone you need to meet....( and he's not a hitman, don't watch it)

Karlsoy Festival
The start of August brought us to the Arctic Circle (Big up dj Clarke Kent every time). It was the 10th anniversary of Karlsoye Festivalen on a remote island off the Northern tip of Norway.
Before Karlsoy we spent a night in Oslo, we hopped straight off the plane and headed to the studio with Tommy T, here's a clip of us picking beats in his lab.

Next morning we flew out to Karlsoy, which is further North than Alaska. The island is a mix of native Sami people and hippies, originally sent there by the Norwegian government years ago. Around 30 people live there! We'd played there back in '07, in fact Aphex Twin once played the main (and only) stage, and apparently asked to come back to play for free- you'd understand why if you went.
Its a beautiful part of the world, last time we went fishing and caught 17 fish in about 10 minutes..cooked em up.. tasty - the Salmon they serve at the festival is the best we ever ate. Its that, Goat or Whale, which tastes like rich salty beef, nothing like fish at all.
I went to the mountain.. and there were goats
Just before the show Nonames climbed the highest peak on the island. The dot you can see in the ocean is a Norwegian naval ship that parks of the coast for the week to make sure no-one drowns. The only way on and off the island is a boat that docks (pause) twice a day.

Sup Fam,
So we played at Fabric on the 10th July Room 1 alongside Scratch Perverts, Jack Beats, DJ Hype and Dirty Canvas. It was also OV's flatmate Tony's birthday, so backstage was hella packed and sweaty, much like the rest of the club (!).
As usual the Fabric crowd went off suttin' different with the usual crazy moshpit antics. Heres a couple flicks to show you how we got down.

Also had Mr Chistus HIMSELF who's been rolling on the road with us and getting crazy footage.
All in all was a supreme night.

Contact Video shoot!!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand were back..
So this weekend we were all up in London Fields shooting the video for our upcoming single 'Contact'. Directed by Tony Truand, of 'Hit That Gash' fame.
Shit was hectoid. Shoot was due to start at 8am, but the Polish Mandem in the Van rocked up about three hours let so the art direction crew couldn't come in and set up.
By 10 we were all set. Dag and James up first, shot for about an hour or so before by some freak occurance we lost THE WHOLE FIRST SCENE!!
So at this point, some good 4 hours behind schedule, shit began to descend into madness. The team involved was ridiculoid, Colette McWilliams KILLED it with the art direction, as did cameraman don JP.
Now we cant really go into much detail until the video comes out in a few weeks, so soon as you see the video, come back for the full behind the scenes breakdown.

Purple Sound
I first heard Joker on Alex Nut's Rise FM Show Mixed Nuts, 'Gully brook Park' sounded different to all the other grime and dubstep at the time.. strong synth led melodies, and the beats bang hard. In this well written interview Dan Hancox breaks off where Joker, Ginz and Guido are coming from and their take on music.. Bristol is kinda like the Philadelphia of the UK when you think about ..
